Licensed home child care, close to home
Get in touchHappy Kids Family Daycare Agency (HKFDA) is licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Education to operate home child care programs under the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA). Our caregivers welcome up to six children into their own homes, so every child grows up in a small group, in a warm and familiar setting, with learning and fun built into every day.
Why licensed home child care
The Ministry of Education describes the benefits of licensed home child care as:
- government-regulated and inspected homes that meet specific standards
- siblings placed together
- small group sizes
- agencies that give caregivers professional development, support and monitoring
- child care fee subsidies that may be available
- standards every caregiver must meet
Our licensed home child care is built on trust: nurturing caregiver and child relationships, stable routines, safe and secure environments, and engaging activities suited to the skills, energy, temperament and interests of each child. Activities meet each child's developmental needs and change as the child grows.
Our homes and caregivers
HKFDA contracts and supervises caregivers who use their homes to provide child care for up to six children. As a licensed agency we are inspected at least once a year by the Ministry of Education to confirm that we meet the requirements of the CCEYA.
Our home visitors are Registered Early Childhood Educators with training in child development and family studies. They visit each home to make sure the agency's policies and the CCEYA requirements are followed, and they support every caregiver with program and activity planning, home safety, behaviour guidance, program implementation and nutrition.

Join our network of providers
Your home might be the perfect place to offer licensed home child care through HKFDA. Providers are self-employed contractors who complete a thorough screening and selection process before their premises are approved and licensed, and we support them every step of the way:
- we refer parents to your program and help advertise and promote it
- the agency collects all fees and guarantees regular payment
- your program is affiliated with a licensed agency and eligible for provincial grants
- ongoing professional support, including home visits, safety consultations, help setting up your home, parent interviews and documentation
- training in child development, nutrition, health, program planning and behaviour guidance
- an equipment lending program for a minimal annual fee
- experienced Registered Early Childhood Educators one phone call away
- eligibility to care for subsidized families
